lately I have noticed that a lot of drivers (mostly Young) think its cool to drive around with their fog lights and high beam on, even when they do dip thier high beam leaving the fog lights on, I find the fog lights just as distracting as having your high beam on? Just a thought, so here is something to ponder. An extract from Transport Operations (Road Use Management—Road Rules) Regulation 2009. Fog lights A driver can only use front or rear fog lights if it is difficult to see other vehicles or objects due to poor weather conditions (for example, heavy rain or fog). Fog lights cannot be used in clear weather conditions, whether it is day or night. Section 217 of the Queensland Road Rules apply Just to add interest the current trend for using white fog lights is useless as white light in refracted by the water droplets in fog making it appear denser (even in heavy rain), therefore harder for you to see, it is best to use amber (yellow lights) as it penetrates the fog more effectively improving vision and making you more visible to oncoming traffic. Best regards and safe driving
