(lee) Armed Forces Fun in Queens Gardens Today from 10am! Supporters are invited to join Hull FC at the city’s Armed Forces Day celebrations in Queen’s Gardens tomorrow as the Black and Whites continue to build towards Charity Week. The fun-filled event will get underway at 10am and will see the club on-hand with some special offers on tickets for the home clashes with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and Huddersfield Giants next month. Young fans will have the chance to meet popular mascot Airlie Bird too while the Hull City Council-planned celebrations will also feature family activities including craft workshops, face painting, soft play areas, a magician and musical entertainment, plus a display of military vehicles around the fountain in Queen’s Gardens. The 150 Yorkshire Transport Regiment Freedom Parade will then be taking the salute at the Amy Johnson statue at 11.30am with a Spitfire fly past offering one of the highlights of the day at 12 noon. Meanwhile, the club’s Charity Week will kick-off with Hull FC v Wakefield at the KC Stadium on Monday, July 1 in a fixture that will form the centre of the club’s own Armed Forces Weekend celebrations. With a particular focus on the Phoenix House Recovery Centre in Catterick, it will see Peter Gentle’s side take to the field in a limited edition camouflage shirt for the match in a tribute to the country’s servicemen and women, with plenty of activities available for supporters on the evening of the match. The rest of the week will then be dedicated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Fly with the Airlie Birds (FAB) partnership culminating with the home game against Huddersfield on Sunday, July 7. The build-up to the game will include a non-uniform day for local schools and businesses on FAB Friday, while there will also be a fun run in West Park for supporters on Saturday, July 6 to raise as much money for the club’s charity partner as possible. Tickets are available for both matches including special offers for those attending tomorrow’s Armed Forces Day event, while Armed Forces personnel can pick up a ticket for the game for just £10 by showing their ID at the KC Stadium ticket office. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 01482 505 600
