If successful, you will be part of a dynamic and passionate team in Somalia and Nairobi that works together to improve the health, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene, and basic education of Somali girls and boys and protect them from violence, exploitation and abuse. The successful candidate will be offered a Fixed Term Appointment for one year. Further extensions will be based on organizational needs, availability of funds and satisfactory performance. Purpose of the Post Under the general supervision of the Chief of Field Office and with technical supervision from the Senior Security Advisor, the incumbent is responsible for all security functions related to UNICEF programmes in Somaliland. Key Expected Results Reporting directly to the Chief of Field Office, coordinates security related functions in Somaliland. Retaining contact with the Senior Security Advisor ensures that UNICEF Somalia complies with its MOSS obligations and that the security plan is strictly observed with all staff lists, situation reports, maps, warden plans and staff data being correctly maintained. Conduct Security Risk Assessments as required and undertake security surveys providing security advice on security measures relating to UNICEF staff and assets. Ensure he all MOSS related equipment is properly maintained, available for use and regularly tested. Liaise with UNDSS and participate in the area security cell. Forge effective professional relationships designed to ensure the effective completion of UNICEFs mandate. Ensure that all evacuation / relocation procedures are in place and exercised on a regular basis. Liaise with UNDSS and the Security Officer Nairobi to ensure that the security clearance and mission security clearance process is managed effectively. Draft and compile security related reports in English. Ensure that UNICEF Staff are effectively briefed and promptly receive security advisories. In cooperation with UNDSS and SIOC ensure that information is properly acquired and disseminated. Undertake field missions as required. Performs other security related tasks, as directed. Qualifications of Successful Candidate Completion of secondary education supplemented with university courses in International law, Political or social Science, Business or Public Administration. One year of relevant professional work experience related to management of security Completion of UNDSS security training [LSA-SCP] would be an asset. Technology awareness- good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint. Exercise tact and discretion when dealing with information and sensitive material. Good interpersonal skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds; Ability to function effectively under stressful conditions, exercise flexibility and respond to rapidly evolving circumstances. Fluency in Somali and English required. Good oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
