m.orning everybody! its 5.am and i up and at it again.i was up rilly late brakeing beans. i had some in a towl in my lap and i must have fell asleep cause they were in the bed with me wen i woke up. no wonder i feal like i ben beat with a stick! i gots the princess and the pea sindrome lol. i manadeg to get one of those turkey fryer kettles almost full of beans im gona blach them and throw them in my dehydraters. like i said before im prepping for the long haul this year. i looked at the okra and it looks like i got a good mess to pick so im gona wade the mudd and do that job today.i shure hope i dont have any more corn thats blew down cause part of my sweet corn is as flat as a flitter. someone suggested that i should pull it up and feed it to the goats but i say no way. heres why i wont. if your corn has blowne down as long as its not started to form ears and heavy it should rase up on its owne. nature can and will take care of it. you may not have those great big ears that you want but they will be good enough to save seeds from and also to eat. if you get in there and start trying to stand it up you can and will brake it then its all goat feed cause it will not raise and grow. this is an old trick i lurned from my friend who left me the home i live in now. he was 92 wen he passed and i lurned a lot from him. witch brings me back to my story as to how i came to live here and how i came to be a prepper. i lived on my parents farm for years after my housband passed away. my dad taught me a lot about raising animals and my mom found out she ad shuger and nedded help in the garden and with the canning. it wasent at all unusual for me to be rocking my daughter in one arme and bottle fedding a goat with my free hand. i never knew wen dad would bring in a half frozen baby goat for me to bring back to life. a warm bath and a good drying off a good bottle and wrap that goat in a baby blanket snuggle it in the bed between me and the kids the next morning the next morning both peg and the goat would be screaming for a bottle. yes peggy you slept with goats na na na na na !!! and so did you amy lol. i still do this to this day it works well. the last one we had loved to set in my lap and watch me play games on the computer. it i called him sunny and he thought he was a dog. he went to a rilly good home and he is there family pet he is house broke and comes in and out through a doggy doore. after years of living with my parents me and the kids got the chance to buld a house of our owne it was just up the road about a half a mile. and we finally had room to spred our wings. i also had a pritty successful flea market business going and owned my owne store. ware i sold used items and pet supplyes i also had many fish tanks and sold tropicle fish and supplyes. i grew up with 15 tanks living in indy so i had a lot of expierence. i was living the american dreem! new cars new home the works. but all good things soon came to an end i found out my daughter amy had scoliosis and i found out i had lupis around the same time. i had to shut down my business and regroop. i wad devastated here i was with a verry sick chiald she had a 70/40 s curve and would be nedding surgeryas soon as the groth plates in her hands were just right. every 3 weeks we made the trip to shriners hospitle. she was put on a wateing list for totle spinell fusion surgery. and would be in a bod cast for 5 monthes. my da also passed away during this time and i was devastated. one day my legs just quit working and so did my kidneys after many tests the docter said that i had lupis he started me on antibiotics and a low dose of kemo and steroids my kidny funtion came back and i dident need the diallisess. and i had to face the fact i had to slow down the pace of my life. this is wen i met mr prepper i nedded help we became great friends he had a house and i had a house but we both just couldent funtion alone anymore. he became sick and stayed at my house for 6 monthes and i took care of him. and i finally sold my home and we moved to town to his home. we have never ben a real couple but great friends and have ben sharing a house hold for years now. we were both living the american dreem i had a great job and he worked at the lokel shirt factory. but wen 911 hit our lives changed drasticly. we lost our home wen his factory shut down all of our stuff was put into storage and we lived in a camper in my daughters front yard. i was still working at the park and i was cleaning housess and setting for elderly people for extra money this is ware i met the friend that left me the home i live in today. it all started with i nedded a garden spot he had an old house with a big back yard. i nedded to help furnish food cause my daughters family was growing and we dident get any finantule adde. i fell in love with this place its old but it has everything i will ever need. a big garden 3 water sorsess and wood heat and a barn. i started out buying this place. we moved in there was no running water and only 1 plugin for electric. we hauled our water from the creek. and got our drinking water from the spring. and we did all of our cooking outside. or on a hot plate. we had no frig no tv and no phone for 2 years. we tore down old housess to get what we nedded to update this place and finally we got city water. i still get my water from the spring. this house has a dubble fire place so we put in wood heat and i cook a lot on my wood stoves in the winter. and our neighbers are kind enough to let us use the garden spot across the street. wen my friend passed away he left me as a lifetime aire to this place he knew we could servive here if times got rough. this place is just perfict for a small farm. we started with 1 dog and then 2 and then we got a goat now we got 10 a bunch of rabbits. at one time we had 100 chickens 8 ducks 4 geese 2 turkeys some ginnys 2 hoggs. we lost our jobs and times got hard again and we sold most of our stock im gona stop here for now cause i got to get busy have a great day Peace&Love
