man and woman have been charged with a number of firearm and fraud related offences following a five-month long investigation. About 3pm on Thursday 12 December 2013, officers from St George Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a business on Forest Road at Arncliffe. During a search of the property several items were seized for further examination including a ballistic vest, ammunition and a number of documents. Just before 2pm the next day, police carried out a further search warrant at a home on Thornton Avenue at Bass Hill. Officers allegedly located a firearm, baton and numerous rounds of ammunition, all of which was seized for forensic analysis. A 28-year-old woman was arrested at the home and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where she was charged with possess prohibited weapon, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition without holding a licence and possess unauthorised prohibited firearm. She was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Bankstown Local Court today (Tuesday 6 May 2014). Following further investigations, a 37-year-old man was arrested about 9.30am yesterday (Monday 5 May 2014) and taken to Bankstown Police Station. He was later charged with possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm, possess ammunition without holding a licence, possess prohibited weapon (two counts), not keep firearm safely, possess identity information to commit indictable offence (two counts) and dishonestly obtain property by deception. The man was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Monday 16 June 2014.
