my Cupidity: BELIEVING LOVE IS A FEELING the truth is: 1. love ideas, your own misguided ideas of how things should be will make you crazy and will cause you to feel that other people are undeserving of your love because they lack something or theyre not able to give back the love you expect from them . but a true love will make you love a person even if he/she is imperfect. 2. love is an action in the sense of its not what you feel; its what you do. When you look at it like that, suddenly love becomes less about how people make you feel or what they do to you, but what you do in response to them. 3. love, in order to prove itself true, must be tested. it must stand in the face of opposition; it must give of itself even when it gets nothing in return; it must be a conscious choice and not an emotional response. 4. love demands a lot of us. it demands an end to asking what about me? and requires the search for the answer to what about the other person? what do they need that i can give? 5. love doesnt necessarily have to feel good in order to exist. consider Christ on the cross. certainly this perfect act of love didnt gave Him the amazing feeling that we associate with true love. to put it bluntly, love hurts. it is self sacrificing. but its worth it because love will be available for us. nothing beats more than a satisfied heart knowing that that person received a true love. #1Corinthians13 project MENDING A BROKEN HEART Day 1
