nine years ago this september, as epiphany church then, we did a restart in Turley area moving from the suburbs. we had no vision that we would become what we have become; in fact we had little vision compared to when we had started other than a desire at the time to put out a message of free christianity in the uu tradition as we had attempted in the suburb. The "we" were at most a handful of people, most of whom at first lived still in the suburbs and who eventually quit coming. But the more we were here the more the relationships were made that themselves led to the new mission that was more about affecting lives and our neighborhood than it was getting people to agree with our message. it is how we should have started: simply move where needed and live and make relationships and let those lead to mission which leads to create organizations as needed for the mission. I think of all we have done in the past nine years here that was unenvisioned in the beginning. So as we keep restarting, as we have been doing this year, i am grateful for all who have come and gone and those who have come and stayed and those who have come and gone and come back and those we are meeting now in our various ways. who knows what visions will still come?
