#nonequity #auditions #Colorado HAIRSPRAY Candlelight Dinner Playhouse Announces Auditions Johnstown and Denver JOHNSTOWN, CO - The Candlelight Dinner Playhouse will be holding auditions for Hairsprayon Monday and Tuesday, September 15th and 16th 2014. On Monday, auditions will be held at Candlelight 4747 Marketplace Drive, Johnstown, CO, from 4 -8 PM. On Tuesday September 16th, auditions will be held at the BUG THEATRE located at 3654 Navajo St, in Denver, CO, from 5:30 - 9 PM Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, September 17th at 6:00pm at Candlelight. This production is being directed by Pat Payne and Choreographed by Michelle Sergeeff. The show runs January 15th - March 8th, 2015. Performances are Thursday through Saturday nights and Sunday matinees with added Saturday matinees January 31st, February 14th and 28th, and March 7th, Rehearsals will begin approximately December 16th, 2014. Rehearsals usually run Tues.-Wed. afternoons and evenings, Thurs.-Sat afternoons only. Tech week begins Friday January 2nd. All roles are open. All roles are non-Equity. All roles are paid. Actors are asked to prepare 16-32 bars of music appropriate to the show and a 1 minute monologue. You may sing a song from the show.Bring sheet music in the appropriate key and mark where to start and end. An accompanist will be provided. No recorded accompaniment or a cappella rendition is allowed. Please bring a current headshot and resume to leave with the production team. All auditions are by appointment only. Edna Turnblad(40-55)Tracys kind, plus-sized mother - a drag role. Edna runs a laundry business out of her home Velma Von Tussle (35-45)The villainess of Hairspray. Ambers scheming mother and producer of The Corny Collins Show, who pushes her daughter to seek the stardom that she never had. Penny Pingleton(Late teens early 20s)Tracys slightly dorky, devoted and perky best friend. Motormouth Maybelle(mid 40s)The owner of a downtown record shop and the host of Negro Day on The Corny Collins Show, self-described as big, blonde and beautiful. Amber Von Tussle (Late teens/ early 20s)Bratty, selfish resident princess of The Corny Collins Show, despite her lack of talent. She is willing to do anything to win the Miss Teenage Hairspray pageant Link Larkin(Late teens/ early 20s)A teenage heartthrob and one of The Corny Collins Show Council Members, who falls in love with Tracy. Seaweed J. Stubbs(Late teens/ early 20s)A hip Negro Day dancer and the son of Motormouth Maybelle who falls in love with Penny. Wilbur Turnblad(40-55)Tracys goofy father, who owns the Har-De-Har Hut joke shop and is still madly in love with his wife, Edna. He encourages Tracy to follow her dreams. Corny Collins(Mid to late 20s)The eccentric and cocky host of The Corny Collins Show. Little Inez(11-15)Seaweeds younger sister, who tries to audition for The Corny Collins Show but is turned away because she is African American. Female Authority Figure(35-45)The Matron guarding The Big Dollhouse; the Gym Teacher; and Prudy Pingleton, Pennys overprotective and often close-minded mother. Male Authority Figure(mid 30s-40s)Mr. Pinky, owner of Mr. Pinkys Hefty Hideaway who gives Tracy and Edna a makeover; Principal of Patterson Park High School; and Mr. Harriman F. Spritzer, the President of Ultra Nicest Kids In Town (late teens/ early 20s) Appears on Corny Collins Show, also double as students and kids of Baltimore. African American Students (late teens/ early 20s) also double as kids in detention, Negro Day dancers, record store kids and 3 women are the dynamites featured in Good Morning Baltimore and Welcome to the 60s
