Ron Wilson Ron Wilson left us Monday, Decmber 1, 2014 to be with his Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus. Ron had recently been diagnosed with ALS which took him quickly. Ron was born March 19, 1939 to John and Catherine (Meadors) Wilson in Washingon County Indiana. He said he was number 9 of 11 kids, 5 boys and 6 girls. He graduated from Haines City High School in Haines City, Florida. Being adventursome, he went to San Jose Bible College in San Jose, California in 1958. He joined the United States Air Force in 1962, serving 3 years as a medic in the hospital. He worked on the maternity ward and liked to tell people he was a baby catcher and all you need to deliver a baby is a pair of scissors and a string. He liked wearing the uniform of his country. After his time in the Air Force Ron returned to San Jose to finish college, graduating in 1966. On June 11, 1962 Ron married Evelyn Sharp. Their 52 1/2 years were full and busy. Their 2 children, Peter John and Rhonda Lynn, are the greatest treasures along with their daughter-in-law, Brenda and son-in-law, Keith; grandsons Kevin, Cody, David, Tommy and Dianna and Brian; granddaughters Katie and Wayne, Amber, Taysa and Yuset; and great grandchildren Easton, Mirabelle and Elsie. Ron lived life to the fullest. He loved to share his faith, travel (at a speed a bit above the limit), pilot an airplane, get a good deal on some property, find a bargin, go to garage sales and auctions, eat breakfast out, drink coffe with the guys at the table of wisdom, cut wood for the fireplace, meticulously build a fire in the fireplace, read a good Louis LAmour book, spend time with the family and tell Katie and Taysa that they looked just like him except for the color of their hair. Ron and Evelyn served the Lord with ministires in Haines City, Florida, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; Elkhart, Kansas; Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia; Borger,Texas; Liberal, Kansas; Tyler,Texas; Lamar, Colorado and in 1992 returned to Elkhart for the third time. Elkhart has been home for them for about 25 years. Ron retired in 2003, but didnt quit by any means. At his retirement celebration Ron said,This is better than a funeral, I get to be here!. Ron is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, PJ and Brenda; daughter, Rhonda and Keith; grandchildren, David, Kevin, Katie and Wayne,Cody,Tommy and Dianna, Amber,Taysa and Yuset, and Brian; and great grandchildren Easton, Mirabelle, and fElsie;and sisters Betty and Gerald Parriott and Karen and Wayne Payzant; sister in law Rose Wilson and Sherry Wilson;many precious nieces and nephews as well as many, many, wonderful friends.
