notes of a dirty old dan: picking yer battles woke up to a phone call from one of my comic pals and they demanded that I go to where they were at. I said Yeah, give me a few minutes...I got to find my pants. I was already wearing my pants but they didnt need to know that. I get in the car, check my jacket, got a few folding dollars and head on out to the usual spot. This one fellow was a little too enthusatic about the situation when I got there. He kept demanding that I down my beer quicker and I got real faggy, held my hands up and said I dont work well under pressure! He demanded that I go inside and get him a drink, I went inside and hung out with Harley then arranged a show with the booker then talked about getting a job with the guy that works the door. My manager showed up and he said I heard somebody was giving you trouble. You want me to take care of it? I said Nah, its just a guy having a good time. Then another friend asked me Do you know that guy? I said Yeah, hes just having a good time. He said Ill throw as many punches at his face as you need. I said Nah, I wouldnt worry about it. But thanks anyway Comrade. He nodded in approval then I went back to the patio to hear that damn good Rock and Roll they play on the jukebox. I walked outside and a complete stranger said Hey, I know you. You were in that one band. You want a smoke? I agreed and said Sure, that would be fun. He handed an unfiltered damn strong smoke to me, fished out a lighter and made that flame rise like Hiroshima. I thanked him than sat down and held court like I usually do. He asked me so what have you been up to? I said Not much, just trying not to die...and working on a book about Lee Harvey Oswwald... He said That guy was a good shot. Then he asked What do you want to do with your life? I laughed, qouted that Twisted Sister song then I said I wanna get famous, get paid in hundred dollar bills...
