offset reconstruction of Stratocaster. Mustang plus Jazzmaster=Strangmaster, or Strazzmustcaster, Strazztangcaster, or simply Strazztang. 5 cuts laid out with black conte crayon. The lower hip has been deepened but not clear in this photograph. The deepened upper hip with an altered offset hip-to-hip of approximately 3.5 cente meters. The tappered bottom into the arm rest offset to match the horn tips, approximately 6 centemeters. trying to maintain symmetry as in the widths from each hip to body center. The upper horn is the most problematic issue but I think the penciled in shorter version appears to be a better choice. One online thread pruposed that the lower hip offset could not be made because of the control cavity. But, lessons learned in life drawing lead me to consider the magnitude of very slight changes in the sketch would resolve the issue. A simple deeping of the lower hip and more focus on the upper offset. Its a tricky surgery that requires carefull consideration. The Strat is a classic shape, but they are plentiful. Ive been researching many guitar shapes, including the guitars built for Jerry Garcia and Leo Fenders G & Ls. After working this drawing of the Stratocaster you get a better sense of what Leo Fender might have went through redesigning the G & L, Ive alot more appreciation of what he came up with, its much better.
