ok - I write this knowing it may spark a little controversy. I read all the time about my friends in NYC getting cat called and hollered at on the street. I empathize with these women and and appreciate the ones who speak out against it. Most peoples advice seems to be ignore the men. What would happen if we actually talked back to these men? They are obviously looking for attention/affection etc. What if we related to their inner child - the little boy that is obsessed with boobs bc he never got breast fed - that part of men that so LONGS for and YEARNS for feminine energy. The little boy that is acting out and asking for what he wants in an aggressive way because we women have the goods! WE have all the power. We have what they want , and its more than the diamonds between our thighs, the nectar from our yonis or our beautiful gorgeous breasts. Its our feminine energy of nurturing & love. If we close off to this, then the cat callers win - the little boy doesnt get heard and the man continues to terrorize women, never getting what HE wants and we lose our power - feeling victimized and threatened. This is a cycle that gets perpetuated if not interrupted. What I want to see is strong women interacting with men courageously seeing each other as humans, not as objects to desire or objects to avoid. Im not saying you have to comply with the men yelling at you - dont engage with them if you dont feel safe. But I am curious about solutions. I believe teaching men how to awaken their enlightened masculine, teaching them what women want and how we like to be talked to is OUR RESPONSIBILITY. There is nothing to be afraid of because we are the most powerful creatures on the planet. When women have the freedom to walk openly and vulnerably in the world it will be a beautiful day and that is what I am committed to. It is out of this commitment that I write these words. Blessings.
