I agree that using cevlar reinforcing the Kung Lou hats metal frame wouldnt b cost affective. I doubt using the materials used to manufacture modern military helmets would b much better. FYI the US military has recently came up with an extrodanary new truly bulletproof helmet for the troops but I digress. What Im hoping is that perhaps I can retain some functionability with the design by focusing on a hat that can still be thrown with an edge similar to a Shakrim throwing disk. Perhaps from 1055-1095 with a good heat treat on the blade and retain High Carbon steel with some weather resistant alloy like Manganese or CroVan etc... Im also hoping I could stay in the 400 dollar budget and have the hat act as a shield capable of traditional war use with grips on the underside of the hat. Id want it to be a stylish semi-light weight (still throwable hat) Im thinking of the Kung Lou overall look but with a gothic/primal twist. I was thinking a wolves head in the center of the hat with Crocodile Dundee style teeth running along its inner brim for a design and maybe grey wolf colored furr (synthetic of course) running along the brim of the hat and appearing along the edge in spots that tuft up like long thin furrlike flames. Hopefully this can still work but thats the general look that Im going for. Let me know what can be done as i know this design would be worth the wait
