okay i just need to say it plain: There is no inherent value in integration of schools for children of color. Desegregation is generally understood as going to school with white children, while an incredibly diverse school with folks from all around the Caribbean, different parts of the continent and Black American kids together is seen as opaquely black. - Savannah Shange I remember once at an event I was hosting with diverse Black folks from across the continent, Brazil, the Caribbean as well as North & South America, I had a white person scoff mockingly when I called the event diverse - she said, but everyone is the same? #wearenotamonolith #wearediverse
