okay so heres a guy not afraid to ask for HELP!!! hoping someone can give some advise on a little problem Im having!! I have been living the single life for the last 6 months (after 30 years) and share a house with my 23 year old son!! we decided we want to make one of them there beef stew thingys !! simple enough!! we find a recipe on line looks easy!! it says cut beef into 1 cubes ! easy put 6 cups water in a large sauce pan! measuring cup goes to 2 cups simple fill it 3 times easy put 1/4 of oil in large skillet ! we grab the tape measure 1/4 easy now is where the problem comes in..... it says brown the meat okay! but it doesnt say how!! I look at my son he looks at me! the next thing it says is after browning meat put in sauce pan with water!! simple.. kinda!! we tried brown magic marker first but it wouldnt stick !! so then we used sidewalk chalk ! that stuck good until we put it in the water , then it came right off!! so I read the tips and it said to brown the meat better roll it in flour first!! well DUH!!! once we did that the magic marker stuck real good!! but as soon as we put it in the water it came right off again !! HELP ! I am heading to ace hardware for some brown spray paint!! if that doesnt stay on I dont know what to do!!!....... and does anyone know what the 1/4 of oil in the skillet was for? it never mentions it again!! sorry to ask for help but me and my son sure are looking forward to a nice homemade beef stew!! thank you for any advice you can offer
