on a personal note: some people are under the mistaken impression that i became an atheist due to the psychiatric counseling i have been lucky enough to receive the last few years. Not so. I was born an atheist, was raised in a repressed, restrictive southern catholic culture that denigrated and tried to shame me for being different, for asking questions, for thinking for myself. i kept my mouth shut for a long time and played along because it seemed the only way to survive until i could get out. what my 12 years (and continuing...) years of psychiatric counseling has done is let me accept, acknowledge and appreciate the marvelous, imaginative, thoughtful and unique person that i am. anyone that cannot accept that is more than welcome to simply walk out of my life (you probably already have). anyone unable to be thankful for my setting myself free is more than welcome to excuse themselves, as well. you wont be missed. I am complete, content, and yes, finally happy just the way i am. thank you to the people who have held my hand while i achieved this and kiss my wide, scarred ass to the people who have tried to restrain me, repress me or tried to make me feel shame, and, might i add, did so from beneath their own nasty, moldy rock. im not sorry. it had to be said. adios to those who are leaving. and welcome, again, to the amusement park that is my life to the people who are staying, indeed, who have always been here ...
