on stewart. i never had a pet. bad memories of dogs: got bitten 3 times when i was a child. imagine the pain of 25 injections on my back each time i was bitten. and then no time for pets when i was raising my kids. never thought a time will come when i will love a dog. but i did. it wasnt love at first sight, though. but every time i visited my daughters here in jersey, i would see hasmins dog, stewie. he would come to me and ignore my ignoring him, until my foot learned how to stroke his body; then slowly but surely, he started inching his way into my heart until i was able to touch him with my hand, run my fingers through his hair. and tonight, he taught me the meaning for a dog of loyalty and loneliness. when hasmin, owen, and tyler left, he did not...could not stay in his bed. he just sat in the middle of the stairs, looking at the door. did he know they are going away for weeks? i tried to coach him to go to his bed. but he just looked at me, and i saw the loneliness in his eyes. i called my daughter and i let him listen to her voice, and he looked at me and nuzzled me, licking my face. and for the first time in my life i wanted to cry. for a dog.
