on this fine monday morning, allow me to bestow upon you all some wisdom ive gained in my 34 years on this earth. it doesnt matter what you do for work as long as you have something you love. you can do what you love, or you can do what you have to in order to support what you love. whether what you love is family, travelling, a hobby, a band, whatever. career goals arent for everyone. college isnt for everyone. college doesnt even have to be to advance your career. best study something youre interested in, because youre going to be writing a lot of papers on it. no matter what you do, you always gotta start at the bottom. a shiny degree can get you in the door, but then its up to you to learn and grow. pay attention to the industry more so than the position when job hunting. if you work in a field you care about (non profit, real estate, job recruitment), you will be more successful. administration and low-level management is basically the same everywhere. from there, you can either move up in the company or take your experience elsewhere. the possibilities are really endless. even if you never move up, so what. if its a nice place to work and pays enough to support yourself and what you love, it doesnt matter what it is. dont let other people define your life goals. follow your dreams isnt always career-specific. sometimes its enough to just have something to love and a job to pay for it. the goal is to be happy, not pressured to be something youre not. if youre career-oriented, great, best of luck to you. if youre not, dont force yourself. find something you love and a job that you can tolerate. your life still has meaning. ive seen a lot of people bummed out about the world lately so i thought i would try to help shed a light on a different perspective. ☺
