All the staffs left their desktops and enjoyed the fine wines among festive wishes. As a fine wine company, Christmas party with great food and wines surely cannot be missed. This time we kicked off with “Le Creux d’Enfer” rare rose champagne by Cedric Bouchard (around 300bottles produced in 2006) and Cristal, Louis Roederer 2006, followed by Dagueneau Puilly Fume Silex 2011 (pre-tasting a bit too early), TREMBLAY Cecile, Chambolle Musigny Les Cabottes 2009 and CATHIARD Sylvain, Vosne Romanee 2009; also the old vintage CABRIERES, Chateauneuf du pape 1977, with surprisingly vivid aroma ; and of course a grand cru wine GRIVOT Jean, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2006. Jeroboam of FELETTIG Henri, Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes 2012 and BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO, Castello Banfi 2006 were decanted for almost two hours. It is interesting to drink and compare these two wines together, since the BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO is regarded as one of the best expression of Sangiovese in Italy versus Pinot Noir of Burgundy. Smooth tannins, complex fruits and body make them become easier to pair with the sautéed potato gnocchi with black truffle, morel ragout and Parmesan dish. If you taste these two carefully, you will find the connection and you will agree of what I said. The night ended with “Finding your Hidden Angel” Christmas gift exchange among us to show our appreciation of everybody’s hard work and share their enjoyment of the night.
