#randomthoughts_31 First, it was the HIV-AIDS pandemic that hit Africa. Political and religious authorities in Africa blamed it on the sins of the people, and tried to pray away the scourge. It took the intervention of Europe and America to develop the antiretroviral drug, which assuaged the onslaught. Currently, its the Ebola virus. But this virus didnt happen today. It broke out in the Congo in the 1990s. Again, the Africans tried to pray the virus away. African religious leaders used it to manipulate the psyche of the people. Even now, they can be heard spreading all sorts of conspiracies. Interestingly, America took note of the disease and developed a serum for the virus. We know that the American doctors who were infected and flown back to Atlanta recovered FULLY after being administered the serum. Going by this attitude we are concerned to ask: Has religion been a blessing or curse to Africa? Your thoughts, please. Thanks. ________________ Our Guest Moderator is Sunday Ozoemena.
