rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/8065-rock-solid RANGERS’ rock solid defence has had a big part to play in their recent winning run – so says Richard Foster. The Light Blues defence haven’t conceded a goal in some 576 minutes of football, maintaining six clean sheets in a row as they have got their Championship challenge back on track. 29-year-old Foster claimed his place back in the starting line-up against Livingston on October 4 and has been an ever present in his right back role ever since. Gers stormed to eight straight wins with a 4-0 win over Falkirk on Saturday and remain four points behind league leaders Hearts, who they meet at Tynecastle in a fortnight. Foster, who has been a key part of the impressive run without conceding, said: “The mentality is now massively different. “Everyone was hurting in the dressing room after the Hibs game and now after winning eight games in a row we have the momentum – all we want is to try and catch Hearts. “Coming back into the team you want to fit straight back in and not concede many goals. “Thankfully we’ve done that and we’ve fitted together well all across the back four and it’s looking good. “I don’t want to take anything away from the guys who are creating all the goals but it does help coming from a solid base - I certainly think we have that at the moment and long may that continue. “We don’t want to fall further behind Hearts before we take them on and if we put in a performance like we did against Falkirk we’ll win again next week.” While Foster has been an ever present since his return to the side, the players in front of him have chopped and changed. Fraser Aird started beyond him before first an injury to Ian Black and now a thigh strain to the Canadian, meant Ally McCoist’s pack had to be shuffled. The defender has linked up with Lewis Macleod and David Templeton in recent weeks, meaning he’s had to adapt his game depending on who he has played behind. Foster said: “David is more like Fraser, you can give him the ball and he’s going to run with it, whereas Lewis like to come inside and pass the ball. “It is different but my motto is to just get the ball and give it to them as soon as possible and let them create something. “Anyone who plays in front of me is more creative than me so I’ll defend and they can attack.”///Chris72
