ratoutyourbuddy In the spirit of the above website, I`m compelled to tell about the first time I handled Lippitt Raymond to breed a mare. I was like 17, and my prior experience in such matters was holding a mare for Ted Davis, while he bred her to Upwey Ben Don. Ted Niboli was holding the mare, out in the middle of Grasshopper Lane, in South Reading, Vermont, and Raymond made a lunge at the mare. OK, so maybe I didn`t control him quite enough, but that`s not the point of this story. The mare made a leap forward, and Ted chickened out, let the lead go, and mare and stallion went tearing off toward Cavendish at 784 meters per minute, lead lines flying behind them like sails. We both started yelling at each other, passing the blame, and then we realized that in the entire state of Vermont, as far as the eye could see or the ears could hear, there were zero horses.
