(read properly, the main topic is the major difference between LF and AW not AW and RAVEN) The dying question everyone wants to know: What is the major difference between Light Fury and Abyss Walker? Can an Abyss Walker replace a Light Fury? In an 8 man party, let us say BDN, in all likelihood Sieg’s idea of the core 5 support members (Tank (Typically Guardian), Priest (again, typically Saint), Elestra, Light Fury and Mercenary) provide a very stable core of support units. Including these 5 core members, this leaves a remainder of 3 DPS slots. After this point, ANY class taken is fighting for a DPS slot. Anyways, in an 8 man party, a Light Fury is undeniably a MUCH BETTER CHOICE than an Abyss Walker, assuming the Abyss Walker would replace the Light Fury (Light Fury+ Abyss Walker combo is a completely different scenario). Basically, it is almost impossible for the damage of a non- meditating Abyss Walker in a party to overtake the 46-50% damage increase an Abyss Walker provides to THE OTHER 7 PARTY MEMBERS using meditate. This excludes the HP healing and MP healing effects of Healing of Chakra. Assuming one takes an Abyss Walker in place of a Light Fury, they would basically end up with the EXACT same play style as a Light Fury; except with an Abyss Walker the party benefits from Incarnation of Darkness’ 25% (?) dark attack increase buff, while losing healing potential, the key 50% damage reduction buff applied to Healing of Chakra EX, and the ease of use and application of Sunshine Spark’s debuff (which can be tossed out of Healing of Chakra EX, has really long range, and by the time the debuff starts being applied a Light Fury can resume channeling Healing of Chakra once more). Nightfall applies a damage debuff also to enemies, but it lacks the potential range that Sunshine Spark has. An Abyss Walker also utterly lacks Chakra of Miracle, which is undeniably the strongest burst heal a Light Fury has, and it is also the only ENTIRE party burst heal a Bringer can get (Chakra of Energy EX can heal a maximum of 3 people, including the caster, and non EX can heal a maximum of 2 including the caster). The support potential and utility of a Light Fury FAR outshines that of an Abyss Walker; if you replace a Light fury with an Abyss Walker, you lose a very important burst healing skill and you lose 50% damage reduction, all for a bit of dark attack? Sure, an Abyss Walker could potentially have higher DPS overall, but if the Abyss Walker is meditating (which IS its most efficient role to do if no Light fury is present in the party), then it’s DPS, much like that of a Light Fury, will be limited to mainly summons. For certain scenarios where the Bringer is forced to terminate Healing of Chakra to assist with damage, both classes are likely to have the same damage output (afaik) since it would be limited to mainly: Night Fall/ Sunshine Spark, Line of Darkness, Ring Strike and Fan of Edge. Who wants to go to the trouble of building a nice Abyss Walker, with pretty well rounded burst damage and support, only to sit in a raid and do the exact same thing a Light Fury would, with much lesser efficiency? source: forum.mmosite/thread/2/217/20140220/Bellas_Little_PvE_Light_Fury_Guide_Summon_wall_of_text_Update_02282014-5305c47b01e6ec113-1.html
