reading Howards End by E.M. Forster. a conversation between Margaret Schlegel and Aunt Juley about raising banners for poverty or wealth reminded me of this song. it is, unquestionably, my favorite by Trampled by Turtles. i see it as a musical conversation between the classes, the civil cynics that inhabit the entire system and the chorus as some lamentation on the tiny ripples of sociopolitical hierarchy. somehow, those la la las bridge the gaps of status and stratification. youtube/watch?v=_hgNzKd4rIQ
