With OA moving into producing long run musical theatre ( South Pacific for two years running) they have succeeded in reducing opera audience without swelling music theatre numbers overall ( see the graphs on Musical theatre) If you love opera you will know about this- less opera, higher prices ....is this really the direction we want this wonderful art form to take? Is the so called audience-driven model working or is it driving audience away?
