*reposted from a friends status* A well-known speaker posted an ill-informed post about our country. He was neither racist nor anti-religion, neither rude nor condescending. He was just posting up facts (albeit very misinformed) that he had gathered from the people he spoke to and the observations he made while he was here. However, Bruneians responded with racism, hate, rudeness and condescension... more shocking is the fact that they are in a special time of their calendar. Did it ever occur to you that his information came from other Bruneians (who maybe, kan kambang).... and to be honest, Brunei does make me proud to be Bruneian... He deserves to be informed (nicely!) about our ways and customs, and how we live in a tolerant society. He was wrong to post it up, but we are as wrong to comment and throw insults at him. Habis tia kna pikir org brunei ani semua kurang ajar, inda bersopan santun — feeling sad. ********************* I think as Bruneians we need to calm down and not being too overly defensive or even worse hurl abusive insults at others when people have the wrong informed opinion about Brunei. We can always calmly send the message and let them know the facts. If they do not agree, we can just walk away having done our best in a respectable manner. Behaving like insecure individuals would only bring more shame to the good name of our country - you are not defending our country - you are only - sad to say - making others think Brunei has a huge bunch of insecure idiot, which of course isnt true - Brunei is a wonderful country with a civilized, well-behaved multicultural peaceful population. Keep calm and respond in an intelligent civil manner. Some people really should be banned from the internet.
