review: I sore the original back about 2 years ago I think it was when I kept hearing that old boy was a very good movie so I give it a go. I was pleased by the movie and thought it was quite shocking with the ending. When I heard they were doing a remake of it I had my doubts if they would be brave enough to do it justice and I think they have (sort of) the remake did not have the impact the original had over me and at some point in the movie I didnt think they were going to stay true to the original but they did by the way they setup the movie. They changed some elements of the movie to compensate for the confusing elements of the Asian movie (I say Asian because I cant remember if it was a japan movie or Korean) the original in some parts were slightly confusing at times but the remake simplified it. The acting in the remake was good but I think the acting in the original was slightly better or that might just be because it was the first time I watched it. The hammer scene was great to watch but it was another scene prior that which took me by surprise and I would of liked to see more of that in the movie. The bad guy in this film played by Sharlto Copley who you will remember from district 9 and open graves played a very creepy role in the movie and put on a weird but interesting accent. Josh Brolin who played the lead role looked the part but I am not sure he could convey the amount of emotion that was needed in some scenes compared to the original but it was still a good choice in actor to go for. I am more than sure some people will dislike this remake due to some of the changes they made at the end and the fact its a remake but I think spike lee did a nice job in remaking this movie and if I was going to buy 1 of them I think it would be the remake but only for the obvious reason that I dont want to read the subtitles ^_^ overall: this is a good remake and although the original had more of a impact than the remake I would still suggest people to give this one a watch. 8/10
