(ron’s note – This lady was like a grandmother to me. She was a sister of my father. i never had any grandparents living while i was growing up. She was a very unique person. i can still remember all the good times her and my siblings had at the old farm. ) 2 May 1989 – DEATHS & FUNERALS – Hazel S. Reilly, 93, Higbee, died Sunday, April 30, 1989, at 2:26 p.m. at the Keller Memorial Hospital in Fayette. She was born Oct.20, 1895 in Howard County, the daughter of Thomas and Anne Belle Robb Dennis./ She lived her life in the Higbee area and was a member of the Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Reilly and one daughter, Louise Vaughn. Survivors include six grandchildren, Rosemary Lorton, Larry Vaughn, Linda McCracken, Hazel Sue Vaughn, Ruth O’haver, and Ernie Vaughn, all of Macon; 17 great grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:a.m. in the Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home in Higbee, with Bro. ron dennis officiating. Burial is to be in Log Chapel Cemetery, southwest of Higbee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Higbee. 24 Apr. 1964 – VINCENT J. REILLY OF HIGBEE DIES, FUNERAL MONDAY – Vincent Joseph Reilly, 73, Higbee, died at 1:10 o’cloc this morning at Keller Memorial Hospital in Fayette. He had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Reilly was born June 28, 1890, in Nebraska, a son of the late James and Ella McGowan Reilly. He was married to Miss. Hazel Dennis on Dec. 23, 1912. Mr. Reilly was a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife; one daughter; Mrs. Gene Vaughn, Higbee; three sisters, Mrs. C.B. Taylor, Denver Colorado; Mrs. J.F. McLeod, Barry, Ill., and Mrs. Clyde Fox, Mexico; six grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. The body is at the Million – Burton and Greer Funeral Home in Higbee. There will be no visitation until tomorrow night Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o’clock Monday morning in the chapel by Msgr. John C. Mahoney, pastor of the St. Pius X Church in Moberly. Burial will be in Log Chapel Cemetery. Friday-26 Sep 1913— Born, on the 20th, to Vincent Riley and wife, a daughter. 29 Nov. 1973 - DEATHS AND FUNERALS - Mrs. Anna Louise Vaughn, 59,. died this morning at Laughlin Hospital Kirksville. She had she had lived in Macon one year. Moving there from Higbee. Mrs. Vaughn had been ill two years. She was born Sept. 30, 1913, in Howard County, a daughter of Vincent and Hazel Dennis Reilly. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Howard County. Surviving are five daughters; Mrs. Rosemary Lorton, Macon; Miss. Hazel Vaughn, Macon; Mrs. Linda McCracken, Macon; Mrs. Ruth O’Haver, Moberly and Eugenia Vaughn, address unknown; three sons; Larry Vaughn, Macon; William, Fulton; and Ernest A.U.S. Marines, stationed off the coast of Israel; her mother, Mrs. V.J. Reilly, Higbee. Her husband died March of 1973. The body is at the Million-Greer and Comstock Funeral Home in Higbee. Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of word from the son in Israel. 9 Mar. 1973 - DEATHS & FUNERALS --- William Eugene Vaughn, 72, of 819 Vine Street, Macon, formerly of Moberly, died at the Medical Center at Columbia at 9:15 a.m. Thursday. He had been hospitalized for about two weeks. Born October 22, 1900, near Paris, he was the son of Harry Eugene and Susan Ella Lynn Vaughn. He was formerly employed at the refractories at Mexico. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are the wife Anna Louise Reilly Vaughn; three daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Lorton, Miss. Hazel Vaughn and Mrs. Linda McCracken, all of Macon; Mrs. Ruth O’haver, Moberly; three sons, Larry, Macon; Ernest A.U.S. Marines, Okinawa’ William, Fulton; sister, Mrs. Mary Willis, Joliet, Ill.; two brothers; Virgil Vaughn, Glendale, Ariz.; and Vincel Vaughn, New London; 10 grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2: p.m. Saturday, at the Million –Greer and Comstock Chapel at Higbee, with burial in Log Chapel Cemetery near Higbee. The Rev. Luther Smith will officiate. Visitation will begin at 5:p.m. today. (Transcription of the Moberly Monitor Index by-rgdennis) 23 May 1946 - NEW RESIDENTS - Mr. and Mrs. V.J. Reilly are settled in their new home, known as the Mattie Morris property, and are greeting old friends, Mrs. Reilly having been raised south of Higbee, while Mr. Reilly lived in the Burton neighborhood a number of years. They come here from Mexico, Mo., where they had lived the past twelve years. They plan to operate and improve their farm south of town. The house use to have a large brick, Miranda type porch on the front. The property is now owned by Mrs. Carlo (Ethel Wheeler) Torri . The Reilly farm is still in the family. It is now owned by my nephew, Dennis Norfleet. )
