sep 12, 2014 lawson robb creates private vaulted spa beneath london lawson robb creates private vaulted spa beneath london all images courtesy of lawson robb interior architecture studio lawson robb has created an underground spa in a grade II listed building in mayfair, london. designed for a private client, the subterranean volume has been completely reconfigured with three-way mirroring positioned between the pool and gym areas. ‘hotel design has for a long time informed the interior design of homes. as more people travel the world, so they bring home global styles’, explains lawson robb. ‘they also want to translate that hotel service into their own environments; if they can pay for comfort while on holiday, why not have the same at home?’ the subterranean volume has been completely reconfigured a stone stairway leads up through a wine cellar to the library above, while a back-lit onyx slab conceals a remote control pop-up bar. the project also includes a pool, with massage rooms, a sauna, steam room and walk-in jet shower located within the adjoining vaults. a glass bridge runs above a central light well that brings natural daylight into the spa below, while a plunge pool and waterfall have also been incorporated
