simply put, without a witness, our life often seems utterly meaningless, and unless you firmly trust the values you defend & practice, which then makes you your own witness, your pilgrimage on earth appears to be absolutely vain. We NEED a witness, we were born & made to be doing awesome things & be appreciated for it, the lack of which kind of kills us slowly... And that is why, short of having people around us to enjoy who we are, it is a good thing to believe in a loving, wise, just & forgiving God, even if He didnt exist. However, Heres the good news: there IS one, who is watching, who is a fair judge of our ways, but who is gracious enough to provide us with His [better / more long term satisfying] ways if we just let Him... One who doesnt force His will on us, but incredibly patient, resilient & ever-ready to whisper wisdom & hope in our ears if were disposed to hear, listen & welcome it. In short: you are NOT alone, you have NEVER been alone; Also He came to make Himself known, and we even made one more religion out of Him... But He said true religion is to be less self-centered & to help the people around you, especially in their afflictions (widows, orphans, the sick, the prisonner, etc...) And why would that matter if we had no witness to appreciate it? Truth is, whomever you are chartable to is your witness, and it gives you a true sense of self because you are THEN fulfilling your true purpose in life, i-e to love one another practically, and to be loved as well, not in abuse of anyones kindness, but in gratefulness. Most people struggle with these noble things because they feel that something is missing, and theyre right. That is why we have this record of Jesus saying i will send you the Helper, a power [of love], the Holy Spirit. Why do without if we can have this Holy Spirit and live better, less egocentric, more meaningful, more satisfying lives?? My advice to anyone out there: turn to God, realize that Jesus was God talking to us (if you know me, you know the Father!!), and ask for the Holy Spirit to be imparted to you, to convict you, to change your heart, to make you a brand new person, a brand new you, a magnified you, one that will truly impact & help others around you see the light & get out of darkness!
