so had alot of drama tonight .. my grandbabe is 12 .. many changes to go thru .. as she nears her teens .. i look at her made up face and wonder is that to young .. i resist the urge to peek into my past .. at 12 i also was living with my grandmother .. i remember feeling she was to old to understand .. she is spirited .. loving and kind ... children love being around her .. she has a good heart .. she is also fragile at times .. we know each others very well .. from one years old to now we have been at each others side .. i like to say at the age of one she was already in a demonstration .. because i pitched a tent downtown coast salish territory and refused to leave without her ..one week later they handed her over to me ..she still has hanging in her room a sign that says give back my granchild.. so our bond is very strong .. if she feels fear or sick i am the one she needs and calls for ... so now at 12 we battle over why she cannot have a boyfriend .. she gets angry and wants to leave .. on a school night why she cant stay overnight ..just one more night .. i know when we can meet each others half ways .. and i know when i must be firm in a good way and say no .. she tells me in her anger how she feels about me and talks about running away .. just as quickly as this outburst started .. she comes gives me a hug... smiles puts candy in my hand .. then again we are grandmother and grandchild both intuned with each others .. she tells me that she loves me .. i tell her how precious she is .. and how much i love her too ...
