some cm efforts towards relief in the State of J&K1. Govt of Uttarakhand, a state which itself was severely flood affected, has contributed a sum of Rs. 10 crore towards relief measures in J&K. 2. CM Maharashtra has contributed a sum of Rs. 10 crore towards relief fund for Jammu and Kashmir floods. 3. CM Karnataka has contributed a sum of Rs. 5 crore towards relief fund for Jammu and Kashmir floods. 4. Assam Government has announced a sum of Rs. 5 crore for flood relief. 5. Indian Youth Congress has sent relief material consisting of Water Proof Tents, Packaged Food Items, Water Bottles and Quilts etc to provide relief to affected persons in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to this IYC has sent teams of volunteers to the flood affected state of J&K and all State units are in the process of dispatching relief material and teams of volunteers in order to provide relief. Also a special bank account has been setup by Youth Congress to collect donations for relief work. (A/c no. 33352174948, SBI Bank, Rail Bhawan, New Delhi-01). 6. Kerala Government also has opened a Control room at Resident Commissioners office in New Delhi – special officers have been deputed by the State who will be coordinating with Rescue teams in J & K. Congress Governments in other states are also in the process of arranging relief assistance towards the flood affected state of J&K. In addition to this Congress party has contributed 25 boats, both collapsible and motor equipped for assistance towards relief operations in the area. A special relief camp has been setup by the Congress at Pathankot for assistance to the flood victims. We specially thank Indigo airlines which has been generous to airlift our contributions of relief material free of cost. • Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi is in constant touch with the AICC on the situation in flood affected Jammu and Kashmir and the relief measures thereof. Smt. Gandhi has set up a committee comprising Shri Saiffudin Soz and Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad among others, to be coordinated by Smt. Ambika Soni, General Secretary, AICC. Smt. Gandhi has also instructed Congress Chief Ministers to contribute with all means to the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Shri Moti Lal Vora, Shri Ahmed Patel, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad and Smt. Ambika Soni met in the AICC to oversee the relief and rehabilitation work. • Sh. Rahul Gandhi has also appealed to all Youth Congress, NSUI & Seva Dal volunteers to help/ participate in relief measures in J&K. • Smt. Ambika Soni, General Secretary AICC and in-charge J&K will be going to Srinagar tomorrow. She will be carrying relief material namely, packaged food items, medicines, water purifier tablets etc. for the flood affected people. Steps Taken by Rescue Forces 1. Army and Indian Air Force have deployed 329 columns and 79 aircraft and helicopters to evacuate those stranded and provide food and medicines. 2. 3 to 4 feet levels of water receded in Srinagar Town since the beginning of the floods. - Additional Directorate General of Public Information, IHQ of MoD (Army) at 12:00 pm today 3. Four Field Hospitals working at Awantipora, Anantnag, Pattan & Old Airfield. 9500 + treated. 4. 76,500 + rescued. Additional columns, boats & helicopters pressed into service to enhance evacuation. 5. Despite fighting the fury of floods in Kashmir, Indian Army carried an operation at Laribag, Kupwara eliminating one LeT terrorist. 6. 30000 Litres of water with 2 Tonnes of Biscuits reaching on a daily basis to affected areas. 7. 120 Sorties of Army Aviation being done per day for Rescue work. 71 seriously ill persons airlifted (yesterday). 8. More than 700 persons rescued by army during night operations. 9. One Lakh MRE (Meals Ready to Eat) being shifted. 400000 litres of milk (tpm) also placed and being moved.
