stepping on the bus today I caught a older woman staring at me the same stare I often get. I responded in kind and with a smile waved back, in a unpleasant manner she looked away. I sat two seats behind her and once the bus started up again she very vocally expressed to the woman in front of her that she could not understand why delinquents still choose to mutilate and paint their bodies like savages, that in our civilized society it shouldnt be allowed. after this she got off the bus and to my surprise had forgot her carry case, the ones with the wheels and handles that elderly people often keep all their belongings in, including wallets and purses. I got off at the next stop around the corner and grabbed her bag, no one questioned or stopped me. walking around the corner I could see she was at the bus stop on her phone, I walked up expecting a thank you or maybe 2.75$ to get on the next bus. she without making eye contact or stopping her conversation snatched the case from me, then before walking away remarked everything better still be there. after a long days work and afternoon of personal drama I had to wait 30 more minutes for another bus to go to the mall to walk 40 minutes to get home to cook a late supper. sometimes I wonder why in hell I try for such a civilized society.
