sullivans.net NAME AND SHAME SULLIVANS INTERNATIONAL PTY LTD AT UNDERWOOD QLD After applying for a Receptionist position (directly to Mike Sullivans email address who seems to be the CEO of this company) in which I detailed in my application that I have been on maternity leave, I was called yesterday (by Mike Sullivan) to attend an interview. I attended the interview this morning (with Mike Sullivan.) On arrival I was asked to fill out a form detailing my date of birth, marital status, dependants, age of dependants. I was then taken through to meet Mike Sullivan. After shaking hands, the first thing he said to me is Tell me the Dale story. To which I said I had been on maternity leave yada yada yada (was well spoken on my behalf.) He is looking at the form and said I dont understand. Youve put 2 x two year olds and 1 x 8 year old. I say Yes I have twin sons and also a daughter. He then says How will this job work with your children? And I say The boys are in daycare and I have confirmed today I can extend the days with them and my daughter is already at school. He says Daycare is expensive and frankly I dont pay enough and you would be in the red. It isnt worth you working here. I say Ok. (What else am I supposed to say when in total shock?) He suggests to me in a question like manner Daycare is very expensive? I respond At times it can be. He requests figures of what I pay. I then tell him and he tells me how much the salary is he is offering. Again he continues to tell me that it isnt worth my while to work there. (On the way to the car I work out the figures and I would have about $600 a week left after daycare fees.) The he goes in to almost damage control for what seems to be discriminating against me that I am a mother and asks how competent I am in Excel. I say that I am fairly competent. He says You will be on it all day every day and if you make one mistake than that isnt deemed as competent. I say Excel is very tricky at times with formulas and I know that it can be easy to make one mistake so perhaps I am not competent. He wraps up the interview with I should have clarified things better when I rang you. And I get up and leave. Am I just sensitive or is this guy just a total prick? PS Carlye and Katie, they sell tassels for $3.24.........totally inflating the price.
