tao.realFINAL RESUILT!!!BREAKING...........AREGBESOLA WINS OSUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION BY LANDSLIDE. Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has been declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election. Aregbesola defeated 19 other candidates in a landslide victory which many have described as a victory for democracy, considering tension in the build up to the election in which All Progressive Congress party’s stawalt were arrested, molested and harassed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s led government at the center. Amid tight security at the State of Osun INEC headquarters on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Prof. Bamitale Omole, said Aregbesola scored a total of 394, 684 votes (or 61.4 percent of the total votes cast) to beat his closest rival, Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party, who scored 292,747 votes (or 39.6 percent of the total votes cast). The Labour Party candidate, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, who came distance third, pulled 6,642, with 17 other candidates trailing them behind. The election turnout was massive, as many voters were seen as early as 7:00am at polling units, when election ordinarily is scheduled for 8:00am. Aregbesola made a clean sweep in 22 out of 30 local government areas of the state, leaving others scrambling for the rest. Speaking with Director of Publicity & Strategy of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Barr Kunle Oyatomi, acknowledged that it is God’s doing and glory must be return to him. Condemning the arrest of APC leaders across the state by federal security personnel, Oyatomi said militarisation of electioneering was a greatest mistake PDP led government at the center committed. He urged all Nigerians to join forces in condemning the act, but said victory for Aregbesola was a landslide victory for our nascent democracy.
