thank you for the add this is Lucky ....we believe he is between 9 - 10 years old possibly older but the vet dont think by much we took him right in off the streets where we live i found out he was blind and my hubby asked me if we could take him in and i said yes go get him immediately i couldnt see a blind doggy living out there on the streets apparently b4 we took him in he was roaming the streets of our town for several days one of our neighbors even called animal control to come pick up the dog and find him a good home and animal control said just let him wander the streets and i wouldnt hear of that so my hubby went and hunted down the dog and informed everyone that we were going to take in the dog we immediately called our local veterinarians office to get him in to see them as soon as possible to make sure he had no other health issues besides his blindness she told us he was blind due to cataracts which is a sign of diabetes and she asked us if we wanted her to run an extra test on him to see if he was diabetic for an extra amount and at that time we only had on us the amount for visit and shots and heart worm test so she said she would run it for free then so we could know sooner his sugars were 600 at the time so she called around to price insulin and syringes and walmart was our best bet ....we scrounged up the money and got him on insulin right away we took him back to the vets after we picked his insulin and syringes up and the vet taught me and my hubby how to give Lucky insulin shots and told us how often to give him and she started him out on a low dose of 2 units twice a day now hes on 4&1/2 units twice a day he goes for another sugar check in August so fingers crossed his numbers are good also when we took him in he was a measly 12 pounds hes only gained 3 pounds since we had him which will be a year September he is a mommas boy and very spoiled dont get me wrong he loves his daddy too but hes a mommas boy threw and threw lol i almost forgot to mention which i really dont want to it may make u all cry but i know how he ended up on the streets and if anyone really wants to know they can message me here on fb but i wont post on here sry that part is very heart breaking :(
