the Thomas Jefferson Scholars program includes two different scholarships, the Tunisia Undergraduate Scholarships (Tunisia UGRAD) and Tunisia Community College Scholarships (TCCSP). The recipients of both scholarships will be known as “Thomas Jefferson Scholars.” Interested students may only apply for one of the two scholarships. Applicants are instructed to apply only for the scholarship tailored most closely to their Tunisian educational institution, as outlined in the application materials available online. Tunisia UGRAD will provide opportunities for undergraduate students enrolled in Tunisian universities to attend one year in their current field of study at an accredited American university. Eligible fields of study for the 2014-2015 academic year will include both technical and non-technical fields from a wide variety of disciplines. Participants will receive English language training and take courses to learn about the United States. They will also engage in community service and internships to gain practical and professional experiences. The TCCSP Community College Scholarship will provide opportunities for students currently enrolled in three different Tunisian academic programs to pursue professional certificates in selected technical fields of study at a U.S. community college. Students eligible for the TCCSP must currently be enrolled in one of the following Tunisian educational institutions: • Any of the 24 ISETs (Tunisia’s Higher Technology Schools) • Any of the 7 ISSATs (Tunisia’s Higher Institutes of Applied Sciences and Technology) • IHET (Tunisian Higher Institute of Tourism) Eligible fields of study for the 2014-2015 academic year are: business administration, information technology and tourism and hotel management. Participants in the Community College scholarship will also receive language instruction and engage in community service and internships to gain valuable practical and professional experiences. Additional information and applications for both scholarships for the upcoming 2014-2015 academic year are now available from the local program implementer here in Tunisia, CEMAT (cematmaghrib.org/) and from the U.S.-based implementer: IREX. The applications for the undergraduate scholarship are available at: irex.org/application/tunisia-ugrad-application-information. The applications for the Community College scholarship are available at: irex.org/application/tccsp-application-information. The application deadline for the 2014-2015 scholarships is December 16, 2013. Recipients of both kinds of scholarship will be selected through an open, merit-based competition. #TJSP_IREX https://facebook/events/503976499700787/
