the booking entertainment field never ceases to amaze me. I will - TopicsExpress

the booking entertainment field never ceases to amaze me. I will get clients to call and I specifically ask, what is your budget? and most say between $3,000 and $5,000. I then list artist that I KNOW are in that price range... and somewhere out the blue l always get... how much is Trey Songz BRUH! Trey hasnt been in that range in 10 years... or How much is Mary J Blige? my reply is usually... you aint got enough money for Mary J You already told me the budget and as a professional licensed and insured booking agent I give honest feedback and suggestions. But YOU PEOPLE have to stop evaluating talent based off of what YOU would pay them. You cant fully determine their value. At the point an artist begins to be seen on television or heard on radio, there are certain guaranteed markers that will be met via management. The market dictated the demand. This is why so much emphasis is put into radio programming for commercial artist. As they get spins and the record gets programmed the perception of demand goes up. As the demand goes up to hear the song, so does the demand to see the artist live and in person. Its the nature of the game. I DONT MAKE THE RULES. #DontShootTheMessenger I just try and follow protocol as much as possible and conduct good business which is extremely hard in this shady ass industry. In closing, If you think an artist is in a certain demand bracket, just ask but dont be mad at me when I tell you the price as if that is my fee, I get prices from the artist reps (management or booking agent) and pass those on directly to you. If you use someone that isnt licensed and insured, well pray for the best. Good luck and happy booking.
