the day before we started recording with the trees, 18 year old mike brown was shot and killed in ferguson, mo. by police officer darren wilson. the systemic issues that gave rise to this tragedy were central to many conversations that we had while working on the record. a few months later, the grand jurys failure to indict the officer responsible set off waves of demonstration throughout america (with solidarity actions popping up all around the world). later in the week, the demonstrations were revitalized with respect to eric garner, who was asphyxiated by a police officer on the street in new york city on camera - and still no justice. this video was put together by our buddy, and it depicts many photos that were taken on the marches that took place in chicago. as a chicagoan, it was amazing to participate in some of these moments (police oppression and systemic racism were admittedly not immediate themes of my childhood or adolescence, but those injustices were never hard to pick up on for those willing to see). heres to the long struggle for a better world. - brendan cp https://youtube/watch?v=6DYwPqRuK58 (ps be careful with the video if images switching in rapid succession are a problem for you i.e. epilepsy etc)
