the opening 30 minutes of Gravity is maybe the most thrilling half hour of film in existence. Or at least since the opening of Saving Private Ryan. The film works so well as pure action, as a minimalist claustrophobic ever tightening nightmare that the only scene where theres some actual talking and emotional outpouring (Sandra Bullock talking to George Clooney about seeing her daughter and finding the shoe under the bed - gag) comes off like a horrible wart on a pretty face. It certainly didnt ruin the film but for a movie with only like 30 lines of dialogue, if there had only been 5, this would have been arguably the best action film ever made.
