the republican philosophy seems to be that if you refuse to acknowledge that poor people exist that they will disappear. i guess, theoretically, if you refuse to help them with food and housing and medical care they would actually cease to exist. the problem is that the notion that the "poor" are a few thousand fat lazy people dragging down the American economy is false. the "poor" are over 60% of the U.S. population, 90% of whom work at least 1 job and very many who do 2 or 3 jobs trying to make ends meet. the 2% of the population that control 90% of the wealth of this country depend on the slave labor of the masses that they are shitting on for their wealth and they will go down with the ship rather than give up one dime of their hoard for the betterment of the general population.
