... the system itself is seized up - it doesnt work. It is completely captive to corporate interests, and in particular, the fossil fuel industry. They write our laws, they own our courts, they control the systems of information in particular the press, they use their money in essence to replace the vote, their lobbyists write our legislation; and so, the last mechanisms we have if were gonna save ourselves as a species is to disrupt the system. Im not naive enough to tell you its gonna work, but appealing to the system itself is not gonna work... Weve undergone what John Rawls himself has called correctly, the corporate coup detat in slow-motion... We have a facade of a democratic state, but we no longer have a functioning democracy.
