the university of the gambia students union unconstitutionally set up an electoral commision to oversee the conduct of this years election which is contrary to the provision of our supreme laws- UTGSU constitution. section 42(1) of the UTGSU constitution states that the electral commision shall be set up by congress. thus, this actions of constituting the EC without going to congress is a gross violation of the constitution. And as future leaders, we should NOT be a party to such moves. the constitution mandates the presedent and the council to uphold and defend the constitution at all times, but their actions betray its purpose and spirit. we as students are not helpless! We CAN do something about it by refusing to participate anyhow in the electoral process of this so- called electoral commision. DO NOT stand for or nominate anybody for any position DO NOT VOTE for anybody and DO NOT ASK ANYBODY to vote for you. please get hold of the petition sheet and sign to show disapproval of the so-called EC and call for the convention of congress by the executive council, to select a constitutional electoral commission. this would ensure the conduct of free,fair and transparent election as par the constitution. NO ELECTION WITHOUT CONGRESS!!!
