Most Pakatan Rakyat supporters and the rakyat in general have criticized Najib for leaving the country in a time of crisis. Heres my take. While it is true that Najib can still keep in close contact with the flood situation and leaving his deputy to handle matters, it is still imperative upon him to remain in the country. It is even worse when he is seen playing golf with Obama and he deserves to be criticized and condemned. This is a major public relations disaster and will be used again and again by his detractors to paint him as an uncaring, superficial and unthinking prime minister. Worse still, he is seen as a lap dog, rushing to his master Obama at the first blow of a whistle. What is so urgent that Najib has to leave the country? We all know that Obama is using different strategies to shore up his dying popularity. Obama is hoping to leave a fragment of positive legacy in the American minds before he leave office for good. Of late, Obama has switched his tough and aggressive foreign policy to placate arch enemy Cuba by opening the doors a little wider to help the long suffering Cubans whom the US government had wrought so much hardship upon them. USA has also been sending some olive branches to China now that Chinas rise is unstoppable and very formidable militarily and economically. Obama is trying to win friends using both iron-fisted as well as soft tactics. I am still very suspicious on the circumstances of our MH370 and MH17 tragedies. Now, why has Najib scurried to meet Obama or is it a ploy and trap to lure Najib out of the country so that he looks really bad? If I am Najib, I wouldnt leave Malaysia one moment, not even crossing over to Singapore. The damage to his image has already been done and rushing home makes him look even more hypocritical! It is not so bad for Anwar and his family to be seen visiting a foreign country because after all, he is in the Opposition. There are plenty of photos to show Wan Azizah and Anwar helping in the floods or are you saying that these were photo-shopped, faked photos? Najib should tell us Malaysians what was discussed with Obama truthfully.
