.... they always manage to reach a last-minute deal. But they’d better hurry: one poll shows that 60 percent of Americans are ready to throw out everyone in Congress of both parties, and the same number disapprove of Obama’s handling of the shutdown. Meanwhile, the dirty little secret behind all this apocalyptic posturing is most Americans haven’t even noticed the difference because about 82 percent of the government is still open. And I predict our leaders will reach a deal before we do start to notice. Or before we start asking why we’re paying for so much government that we can get along without.
