this happened to me last night, i posted it on reddt/r/stlouis providing an experience into St. Louis. As I was walking my dogs last night in my neighborhood a cop car pulled up and 2 cops rushed out. My friend and I put our hands up and were very scared, the car pulled up very fast and aggressive is the only way to describe it because the speed limit is 15 miles per hour on this street. The cops said ARE YOU SERIOUS?! We both explain that we are scared holding our hands up because...and we just leave it at that. what could we have done? put our hands in our pockets? the cops then berate us about how they are working hard and they dont want to take any shit. this happened at about 11 o clock in the evening and I walk my dog around my neighborhood almost every single night at this time. We continued to speak to the police as they requested our social security number and wanted to know where we lived. This was occurring right in front of my house and the cops demeanor did not change after they realized where they had chosen to confront us. They realized we are law abiding citizens after running our information through their computer and yelled at us very very loudly, THERE ARE PEOPLE UP THE STREET THAT WANT TO STEAL YOUR STUFF! The three cops then got into the car and sped away. I have lived in this neighborhood for a long time and he was speaking about an apartment complex. sadly lots of people who are not white live there. thats my story, and if you are out walking around in your neighborhood be careful because you likely will get stopped.
