three pages and a tad bit more on google docs, this is my horror story. Three Shades of Blood: Blackened series Hello and welcome to my nightmare. the scene is set in a small city that seems out of the ordinary , in the year 2007 mid spring. Im am 17 years of age and a runaway. All you need to know about my life is i have had a lot of misfortune and a bad home life. I started in to the city with my hooded trench coat and a luggage bag. The rain pours with such force i struggle to see my surroundings. I caught sight of a neon sign that read ‘Last Stay Inn’. i didn’t actually pay attention to what it said i just hurried inside. the lobby was bleak and gray the desk clerk sat behind a low set desk of thick white oak box with a newspaper from last week in hand. he paid me no attention till i rang the bell on his desk which was on the front center right in front of the computer. he tipped his paper just enough to see me “ three fifty a night” then lifted the paper back up. “i’ll just be staying the night then.” i said pulling the money out of my inner coat pocket. he tossed me a set of keys only moving his free right hand. “room 913 floor 31, elevator is over to the left,” he said from behind the paper. i went straight to the elevator and call for it then step in quickly. the doors slid close and then i relax a little un tensing my shoulder. it had been weeks since i had a decent place to rest and months since i had a good shower. The elevator was a cramped cubicle with just enough room to make two or three people more than uncomfortably close. it moved rather smoothly though it took only two and a half minutes to get to my floor. the doors slide open to reveal a long unexpectedly large and spacious hallway. i started down the hallway a little thrown off by the doors which were all different shape design and material. with that i began to wonder what kind of a place this was then i found my answer. i was staring at the numbers 913 above a massive door. the doors were a large black onyx metal double door that opened from the center with white trim, silver locks ( three XL deadbolt models each different ), and a oversized vault wheel ,for a doorknob that split in half perfectly after it was fully turned. the door opened with ease, and it occurred to me the doors were a foot thick and would have been perfectly balanced for such ease upon opening. As i concluded that thought my attention turned to the living room designed to draw me in with everything i would want or need. The living room was just to the right of the door and contained; a deluxe lazy boy leather recliner, a 72” tv with adjustable wall mounting, an outrageous surround system setup perfectly that would wake a neighborhood, a huge bookshelf filled with games and a gaming system i preferred as well the reading material i liked,a raised coffee table fitted with cup holders in a limestone & granite sitting on cherry oak, and finally the carpet was tall thick black shag with soft fibers and very warm to the touch. i stood there a moment feeling uncomfortably drawn to the living room but my attention switch to the kitchen on the left. The kitchen was spacious and contained a bellwether in the back wall a refrigerator to the left wall and a stove and oven to the left wall it had a full stock beverage vending machine and a full set of kitchen cooking supplies on the professional level . the kitchen was separated from the living room by a hallway to the bedroom and bathroom. i stroll into the bedroom with my bag, and stopped in the door it was basic and similar to military bunk houses but the mattress was tempur pedic. a small dresser at the foot of the bed was just big enough for my things and a axe in a “break in case of” container was on the wall next the head of the bed. the walls of the whole place where deep sea blue with ruby red trim along the floor, and black trim along the top. the place was like being inside my own mind with the mess of thoughts all cleaned up. every instinct and thought i had told me to leave, but for some reason i just couldn’t, and all the time on the road walking for all thought miles began to weigh in on my body i felt like a pile of concrete had been slowly drying over me without me noticing myself getting slower. i pack my things away quickly. i had packed light in foresight of my travel; i carried six changes of clothes, a toothbrush, a can of starter fluid with a zippo lighter, a small switch blade, a metal bat, and a small handgun (Colt M1911 standard issue). i quickly went straight to the case with the axe to check it for an opening to access the axe by, but there was none. i began working the rooms over quickly to see of any imperfection and/or hazards were within my self proclaimed dream apartment. nothing was so much as out of line before i started, and after, i reset everything exactly the way it was. i then sat on the recliner and laid back enough to relax, but not enough to sleep. i had a comfortable feeling that put me in an uneasy mood. “something is seriously wrong here....” i said now leaning forward with an closed hand to my chin in an puzzled expression. ”how can an place be this spontaneously flawless?....” i said still wondering at the tv, and then it hit me,” its a trap!...” i deducted from the layout of the whole building. how i had not figured it out sooner i do not know, but what i do know is its not going to be easy to get out. i mind began to race then on the door i noticed for the first time an interior locking brace that was not engaged nor of access to anyone outside the room. i sprung to my feet and pulled the wheel in a violent spin and the rods slid in to holding manifolds that were built in to the framing of the wall. the five four inch beams now resting in the manifold gave me another bad thought. why, why was it there it had not been well designed to be part of an trap in my mind but i would not be sleeping so it did not matter. My next motion of action was to get my colt which would not be leaving my side for the rest of my stay. i sat back in to the recliner and began to feel hungry till i came to a conclusion that the food & beverages may be tainted/drugged in some way. the next hour was quiet and i did not move from my seat. the door was still as well as the air till a loud groaning clank like a clock towers main gear shifting for the first time in ages rang clear through the building. that was the first for many things to happen sounds of many different animals sounded from various parts for the buildings screams and explosions rattled the halls, and all the while i sat thinking of what i was going to be subjected too. my nerves started to thin ever bit of common sense told me not to open the door but i felt drawn to it so compulsively that i now found myself about to undo the securement, but i quickly retracted my hands as the door received a very violent thud from the other side. i stepped back slowly, with the colt now in hand, i creep backwards to the bedroom then turned to the ax casing. inside where spiders that were not there before and i began to have an arachnophobia attack as i gathered my belongings and repack them. luckily i had not opened the sealed case, and as i left the room i looked back and within the time i had took to pack the case was now full and they seem to be growing in size. how that could be was as much a mystery to me as the fact that this was actually happening. i went to the door and another loud thud came to meet me, but i did not falter to unbolt the locks and slide back the braces. immediately the doors vault style wheel began to turn open, in reaction i drew back and raised my gun. the hall way was now empty, but a cracking sound came from the bedroom that i had carelessly left open. i grabbed my bag and strapped i to my back book bag style and went to close the door to the bedroom there was a smashing sound that came from the the room but i had closed it without looking in. i went to the kitchen and dug out an cylindrical zip up carry bag that i fill ed with the most nourishing food available, then slung to the top of my own bag in an camping style way. the door in the front of the room remained open and quiet as i did my work but i felt as though it watched in waiting. With my gun raised in one hand and my switch blade in the other held like an flashlight, for the best reaction speed possible, i proceeded into the dark hallway. my steps echoed off the walls as i walked quickly towards the elevator. then came an rushing collection of sounds echoing very closely at me i turn and came face to face with an lunging hound that i couldn’t identify (very large wolf?). it snapped a mouth full of large bloody fangs at my face, but i stabbed it up through the lower jaw before it could latch to my collar bone. following that motion i pulled the trigger of my gun in the back of its head and in its abdomen. another popped up to my left and snagged m y ankle i heard a gunshot and an yelp then a few more and some thudding then i light brightened the hall and blinded me. “come on boy we gotta move” said a stern country accented man’s voice. i nodded and followed the best i could seeing past spots in my vision. i could make out three people two men both tall and broad shouldered, and an women i couldn’t quite make out any details as to what she looked like but the way she walk and the sound of broken heels gave away that she was an women. “ok. secure that door.” the man from earlier order to the guy as he lead us in to an room next to the stairwell entrance. “what your name boy?” he directed the question towards me. “shaw” i lied (actually Shawn Allcurse, but i use the nickname shaw curse to avoid identification) the man grunted humoredly. “well we have an bit of an problem ‘Shaw’ we are the only ones form the top ten floors before this one thats still alive.” “And thats my problem why?” i said becuase thats what i’ve been handed all my life. “well, considering ‘WE’ don’t know what’s going on, and need to get the hell out of here i think it ‘IS’ your problem as well as ours” the man said in a annoyed voice “jared get over here and help me move the couch!” yeld the guy who was charged with securing the door which was rattling. the man who was talking to me move to the couch and moved it to the door.
