to finish off the first 50 here comes numbers 60 to 51: 60: Goodfella (1990) [Martin Scorsese] Classic Scorsese all around. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Ray Liotta are great in this biographic true story of Henry Hill, mobster turned rat. This is better than The Godfather series because its more grounded, its about the underlings not the don. 59: V for Vendetta (2005) [James McTeigue] Written by the Wachowskis (creators of The Matrix) based off the great graphic novel. This is not only a fun futuristic action movie, it has great statements to be made about government and how it rules its people. remember remember the 5th of november... 58: The Lion King (1994) [Roger Allers, Rob Minkoff] Did you know this is based on Shakespeares Hamlet? Yup. One of the best kids movies ever made but still great even at this age! 57: Zodiac (2007) [David Fincer] Taken from the police files of the true story of the notorious Zodiac killer. This is much more of a detective story than a horror film, although it is a bit scary at times. Its pretty long but for a good reason; it helps put the audience in the detectives shoes (some of whom investigated these killings for over 15 years). 56: Thank You for Smoking (2005) [Jason Reitman] A hilarious satire on lobbying and smoking and drinking and vices in general. I showed this movie to my dad (a lobbyist who hates smoking) and he absolutely loved it. This is not a pro-smoking movie. 55: Finding Nemo (2003) [Andrew Stanton, Lee Unkrich] Once again, a great kids movie which can still be enjoyed as you grow up. An all around great movie. 54: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) [Lorene Scafaria] The world is going to be hit by an asteroid in two weeks that will kill everything and everyone on earth. That is the premise fore this movie starring Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley as two neighbors who leave their city together during a riot and try to make their way to their families. This movie is very funny and surprisingly moving. I loved it. 53: Garden State (2004) [Zach Braff] That goofy looking guy from Scrubs wrote, directed and starred in his own movie about a drugged up zombie man who goes home for his moms funeral and encounters old highschool friends and meets a girl he falls in love with. This is a quirky, independent and special movie. 52: Good Night, and Good Luck (2005) [George Clooney] George Clooney directs this movie and also helped write it. Its about Edward R. Murrow, a news anchor who actually wanted to report the news. (I know this day and age that is hard to imagine). Not only report the news but attempt to tear down one of the most powerful men in the country: the man himself, Senator Joe McCarthy. If you dont know who any of these people are, the movie gives enough background to make sense. This is an important part of our history often forgotten. Excellent movie. 51: Good Will Hunting (1997) [Gus Van Sant] Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote this movie together as a project in college and it turned out to be one of the best films of the 90s. Its about a genius janitor with a pretty big legal record in Boston who gets found out as a genius. Great story, great acting, great lessons and its pretty funny too. STAY TUNED
