#tristatewx March 10, 2014: Happy Spring-like Monday, everyone! These are the days you have been waiting for. Some of the nicest weather of the year, thus far! Today and Tuesday will be springtastically beautiful! A little bit of wind with mild temperatures. That is the good news. :) Of course nature cant stand in one place too long. Changes are already on the weather map. A cold front arrives on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with showers and few rumbles of thunder. The good news is that we are not expecting any severe thunderstorms. We also not expecting any significant snow in our local area. We are expecting strong winds with the cold front late Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. This will be because of the tight pressure gradient associated with the area of low pressure. Anyone traveling northward into central and northern Illinois or central Indiana - north and east should monitor updated forecasts. Several inches of wet snow will likely fall in a band from central Illinois eastward into parts of the Ohio Valley. Gusty winds and falling temperatures will accompany the cold front. Winds will likely gusts above 40 mph on Wednesday morning. The weather will likely become a bit manic over the coming weeks. A see several warm spells intermingled with cold shots. Temperatures will warm up ahead of storm systems - thunderstorms possible. Colder air moves back in behind each system. I think we see cold shots well into April. A late freeze is possible, if not likely, this year. Something I will be monitoring, as well. I know some of you have agricultural interests. Forecast Today - Spring like - lots of sun. Highs into the 60s. Southwest winds at 10-15 mph with gusts above 20 mph. Tonight - Lots of stars. Not as cold as recent nights. Lows in the 40s. Southwest winds at 10 mph. Tuesday - Spring like warmth. Sunny. Highs into the upper 60s and lower 70s. Some mid 70s not entirely out of the question. Warmest day of the year, thus far? Possible :) Southwest winds at 10-20 mph. Tuesday night - Cloudy with a few spotty showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder. Windy at times with falling temperatures. Lows falling into the 30s. Winds becoming west at 15-30 mph. Gusty at times - especially after 3 am. Wednesday - Windy to very windy in the morning. A few showers possible Colder. Highs only in the 40s. West to northwest winds at 15-30 mph with gusts above 40 mph during the morning and early afternoon hours.
