#tristatewx #paducah June 19, 2014: 9 AM Update - Increased rain chances a bit for later today and tonight as a disturbance moves through the area. Lowered rain chances for Sunday. Timing of precipitation and the pattern we are in means that the forecast will be changeable. Keep this in mind and check back for updates if you have concerns for outdoor events and/or activities/farming - other. No other changes. Another warm day is on tap for the region. Humid, as well. Some additional scattered showers and thunderstorms will occur today into the weekend. It will be difficult to pin down exactly what counties will end up with a shower or thunderstorm. Typical pattern for this time of the year. Your neighbor picks up rain and you remain dry. A disturbance moving through the region later this evening could spark a band of thunderstorms over eastern Missouri and these would spread into southern Illinois and perhaps western Kentucky. Thus, I have increased rain chances for tonight. I know some of you are cutting hay. It is hard to promise you no rain over the next few days. Keep this in mind. Confidence is low as to the details on the timing and location of precipitation chances on Saturday and Sunday. We will need to monitor some weak disturbances moving through the area. These disturbances would provide some lift and the opportunity for precipitation to develop. Some of the latest data keeps Saturday night into Sunday night dry. This would be good news for those with outdoor plans. Fingers crossed. Temperatures will remain above normal as we push into the weekend. Although, some indications temperatures will trend more normal on Saturday and Sunday. That would be because of a bit more cloud cover and a front near the region. I would suggest (as I normally do this time of the year) a plan B for the weekend. Just in case we have some shower/thunderstorm activity in the region (especially on Saturday). It does not look like it will rain all of the time. Just some on and off chances. Hopefully, as we move forward, I can fine tune the timing of rain chances. Rain chances should increase a bit as we move into the Monday-Wednesday time frame. This will be in response to a system moving in from the northwest. Again, confidence is low on just how much of the area will see measurable rainfall. IT does appear that precipitation might be a bit more organized during that time frame. Fine tuning will again be in order as more data becomes available. Again, keep in mind that the forecast over the coming 7-10 day period will be changeable. More so than usual. Forecast details...
